Wednesday, March 25, 2009 This week (spring break) is Circus Week. It began with a fun Kidical Mass ride (like critical mass, but polite and full of kids) on Friday, followed by ambient performing at the roller derby on Saturday, and then a massive downhill bike fun race that I crashed on my Muni Sunday - and got to demo a $4,000 bike on a few sphincter tightening ridiculously fast downhill runs. THEN, Brian (formerly of GMJ) and Pokey came to town from Oakland and "Circus Week" really got under way. Brian's new group, formed with Pokey, is Code Red: Circus Conspiracy. They are really, really good as evidenced by this video. The last few days have been circus-tastic - and will only get better since the Pacific NorthWest Juggling Convention is next weekend. Also that Sunday includes both a private performance (birthday party) by GMJ (now just Mark and I) in the afternoon and the BIG TOP, little eugene, Circus Spectacle that night with GMJ, Code Red, Sirk of Earth DescenDance and the Blair Street Mugwumps. What a great way to end Circus Week! So far this week I've grown a sweet mustache:  Transported our extra bike downtown using the Xtracycle so Code Red can get around:  And built a mobile stage that we terrorized downtown with. Thursday, March 12, 2009 My sickness was most likely some kind of mild intensity food poisoning, as I was fine my 4ish pm. So, I went to the event! The Madsen Cargo Bike launch was funnio! My pictures aren't uploaded yet, but Shane with Safe Routes to School threw his pictures up on Flickr already. (I was too busy watching the new South Park.) I had my first sick day in 1.5 years working for the district today. It's the first time I've been sick this year except for over xmas break. Last year I was sick a lot - being my first year back in schools - but I didn't have paid sick days then so I just kept working. It's nice being able to call in sick and still be paid. I'm already feeling better, which means I can go to the Madsen Cycles debut/bike+beer party tonight. Sweet! If I'd had to work I'd have still been sick tonight and probably tomorrow, but now I can go have (moderate) fun and make it to work on Friday! Woot Recuperation!
