12/14/2006 Entry: "moab et al" It's been awhile since an update. It's overwhelming when you have lots to say. Moab was awesome sauce. Kind of cold at night but we ended up in a cabin for every night but one due to a very unfortunate circumstance that I don't feel would be appropriate to discuss here for privacy reasons. I slept in the bed of my truck on the way down just south of Salt Lake City and on the way back just south of Twin Falls, ID. It worked out really nice. I also slept there the first night of moab. It got down to the teens but it was alright. It was about 25deg during breakfast but long underwear and a warm hoodie kept me toasty enough. It helps that I work outside so I'm pretty used to 20+ degree weather. The riding was great. Nora hiked along with us several times and we did some great trails as well as visiting Arches National Park. For my own reference: We did the Slickrock practice loop Saturday, Amasa Back Sunday (16 miles), Klondike Bluffs Monday (16 miles, finished after dark), Arches Nat. Park Tuesday (break day), and Barlet Wash Wednesday (trials style slickrock). I had to use tire chains to get back home over the Santiam Pass about 1.5 hours from home due to a snowstorm that hit the Cascades. That was pretty cool. Pictures will be up shortly.
