Saturday, May 31, 2008 If I'd posted just 38 minutes ago I would have made two posts on one day. That would have been quite amazing, since I usually average only several posts a month. I don't feel too guilty about this, however, since (most) of you bastards average about 1 comment a friggin' year. That's OK, though - I generally only comment on blogs to talk about bikes. Anyway, I was going to clean the house today, but instead spend several hours making the trailer for the show I'm performing in with Earth DescenDance this year. The footage is from One Family Gathering in the Oregon desert about a month ago. We knocked 'em dead there, and have been asked to perform at a Festival in Washington in June. We'll also be performing it around Yoogene as well. Anyways, this is the vid: (thumbnail may not be working but the vid is) Of course the Facebook version is better and higher quality. You can find that here. I recommend it, since this is an especially visual video. Fuck off, that makes sense. Ass. I'll put a Divx version up soonish, but I don't think any of you bastards download those anyway. Posted by Dreqan @ 10:48 PM PST Link | 10 People give a shit! Yes ladies and readers, gentlemen and the illiterate, we have for you today yet another installment of... These are what people search for when they find my site. I've bolded my favorites.
I must have get many disappointed visitors. Posted by Dreqan @ 10:31 AM PST Link | 25 People give a shit! Thursday, May 29, 2008 Everything came up roses today. I finally got word that I have a summer job, which was a major stresser for me. I'm working full time at Yoogeen's summer p4rk progr4m (edited to fool google) from right when school ends to when it starts back up again in Sept! Summer break here is from June 18th to Sept 9th-ish. The hourly pay is a bit less than my school pay, but since it's 40hr/wk instead of 30hr/wk I'll be making about the same monthly. The job is also sweet! I hang out in park for a drop in program for kids from 0-15, and <7 they need to have an adult with them. My job is to entertain and teach them things, like juggling and games. I'll even be in charge of my particular park crew, which is tits! I can't believe I found a job that's outside that doesn't involve manual labor! Holy fucking balls, batman! Not only that, I get to juggle and play with kids. Score! (don't worry, I won't say things like "holy fucking balls, batman" in front of the kids) I also should be able to bike there no problem, esp with the trailer I just made carrying juggling gear and craft stuff. Another good thing I heard more about today today concerns my employment for next school year. Currently I have two positions battling for me, which is pretty damn cool. It's nice to have some validation that I don't suck at my job. I'll probably get to pick between staying at my current school doing more 1:1 and umbrella sped work, or going to an autism/aspergers/other stuff school and getting to team teach and be their math/science guy. I'll probably go with the new school. I know lots of the people there, my bosses would be cool, I would have more responsibility, and it's just something new. I want to get a full spectrum of experience before I decide to get my teaching cert. I'll be going there tomorrow to feel it out since my normal kid won't be in school. I also got to spend the evening guest speaking for a friend of mine's night school class on American road trips. It's the second time I've guested for her - the other time for a similar class at the alternative school. Basically all I did was talk about my two x-country bike trips and show pictures. It was hella fun. To top the night off, Qehn and I stopped by the store on the way back from the talk and I got to test out the new bike trailer grocery shopping. It worked super swell - no gas, AND no plastic bags since the bin fits right in a shopping cart. I just load the bin, put it in the trailer, and then carry the bin into our house. And Qehn was on a bike the whole time! It was a good day today. Once we figure out Qehn's fall employment I can stop waking up in the middle of the night worrying about being poor. Getting that summer job really helped relieve my stress. They don't even care about me going to RAGBRAI. Posted by Dreqan @ 08:08 PM PST Link | 15 People give a shit! Tuesday, May 27, 2008 I finished building my second Bike UtiliTy Trailer (B.U.T.T) It'll be used mostly for shopping trips and juggling club, etc - places where panniers are too small and my 6 footer is overkill. It looks like this: There are tons more pictures here. It's very over built, and can carry everything but my big giraffe. For that I still have my large trailer. I do want to get an xtracycle add on (damnit Ryan) so I can carry Qehn as a passenger. The trailers would hook to it just fine, too. Damnit, I want to be able to carry people, but that add on is $400. Mark may be able to get it cheaper, but I just can't afford it either way. It'd be damn nice to go completely car free, though. Qehn does bike around now, but a late night movie excursion across town or something of that sort we still need to drive - unless I could take her on my bike! Posted by Dreqan @ 07:54 PM PST Link | 29 People give a shit! Monday, May 26, 2008 Parkersburg (Iowa) was apparently flattened by a tornado a few nights ago. My good buddy John used to live in one of the houses that is now a pile of rubble in this video. We used to light his front yard on fire with gasoline, which was silly, since he shared a lot with the gas station - and in fact paid rent to them. He worked the night shift there too. We used to light the toilet on fire with lighter fluid at 3 in the morning. It wasn't a very busy gas station... It seems like the tornado finished what we started. It's ironic that had I drank in highschool I probably would have been safer, since instead I filled my free time seeing how many things I could burn/explode without dying/getting arrested. Posted by Dreqan @ 08:46 PM PST Link | 4 People give a shit! Tuesday, May 20, 2008 I voted today. I had my ballot mailed to me two weeks ago, but waited until 30 minutes before the deadline to drop it off. I am a winner. I voted for Obama, if only because he's a good speaker and I really miss that. Hillary is... lets face it, a douchebag. She also probably wouldn't beat McCain and Obama can. To be fair to McCain, as far as Republicans go he's probably one of the best. I won't be killing myself if he wins, even though I disagree with him on many issues. At least he's intelligent and not a corrupt bastard unlike a certain current president and certain presidential candidate with the initials HC, respectively. I also voted for him to piss off Rush Limbaugh and his "Operation Chaos" cronies. You know why Hillary if winning southern states? It's (partially) because Republicans are registering as Dems and voting for her because they think McCain can't beat Obama. It's also a plan to make the candidates so bloodied that they can't win in a general election. Unrelatedly, look what I found I out I could do last night at juggling club! (cell phone video) By the by, do youtube imbedded videos work on this site in IE? They don't for me... someone tell me! Posted by Dreqan @ 06:02 PM PST Link | 28 People give a shit! Monday, May 19, 2008 I might look a bit pudgy coming off of winter, but I ended up in the Eugene Daily Emerald yet again. I think this makes ... 5 times this year? Maybe 4... This time it was simply for juggling in a park, not something cool like talking about how being on fire is normal and good for your kids like I did before. For the record, Mark was there juggling too and they took tons of pictures. Why they ended up using the one where there are just two of us and where I look like a douche bag is beyond me. I take what I can get though, eh?

I feel I should mention that, as Atmosphere correctly demonstrates in this video, Meth is NOT sexy. This video is NSFW, but then again THIS WHOLE FUCKING SITE IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK! It used to be called Plastic Penis for shit's sake, and I say things like weiner gobbling cum dumpsters from Neptune in bold, just to fuck with Google. Posted by Dreqan @ 05:10 PM PST Link | 23 People give a shit! Monday, May 12, 2008 It's a strange, albeit unoriginal thought that for my entire life a small group of people have possessed the power to end all human life on the planet. This is unprecedented. How rediculous is it that we can do this? I know, yes, very unoriginal thought. But occasionally it's good to remember such things. Every single person who was born before the 1950's lived in an era where, no matter how hard they tried, they could not kill everyone on the planet. Now, it's easy. They aren't trying to make bigger bombs anymore. They've made them as big as they need to be. Now they are working on how to aim their smaller bombs better. Seems a little backwards. And silly. Right, I know, watch less Planet of the Apes, got it. It's silly anyway. The first step in a modern war would be to shoot down each other's satellites. At that point we are shot back into 1950's warfare and all our satellite guided missiles are useless. Then they'll resort to the big "guns" and we can kiss our asses good by. This topic brought to you by "The Flobots," who I like. Fuck all you douchebags who say they suck simply 'cause they made it onto the radio. It's violin fueled hip hop and it rules. I dig the album. Unrelatedly, I love my commuter bike. Posted by Dreqan @ 05:05 PM PST Link | 3 People give a shit! |
