12/14/2006 Entry: "update" The subject of last night's rant is still alive. Last night he was not excecuted because the two anathesiologists who weren't supposed to not let him feel pain wouldn't participate due to ethical concerns. They postponed it until tonight and were going to overdose him with sedative - but this had to be administered by a medical professional and they couldn't find one willing to do it. Apparently doctors won't kill someone who doesn't want to be killed. Well shit ... WHY THE HELL SHOULD THAT BE A SURPRISE?!? Jesus fucking christ. At least some people in this country have morals. His murder warrant has now expired and a new one must be issued. The guy stalled and used the courts in a way that forced all these weird conditions on his execution and when the courts couldn't meet his conditions in time his warrant expired. He may live now. A new warrant may not be issued because the original judge in his case thinks one of the witnesses against him lied. (That was already brought up in an appeal but the other judges ignored it) Don't get me wrong - they guy probably is guilty and should spend the rest of his life in jail. However, I'm glad we didn't murder him. The relatives of the victim aren't glad though. They didn't get their bloody revenge and now they're pissed. Apparently the only way they can experience closure is to kill the killer. Can't they see their hypocricy? They're letting a part of themselves die. Oh well, chalk one up for the good guys.

We all know what happens to rapists in jail. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Or death...just somewhere they can be put so they can't hurt anyone else. No frills, no privileges except life.
